The Coastal Café Guide launched on 8 July 2024 and I'm super excited that Readymoney Beach Shop, Fowey, features in the exciting first edition.

Summer’s must-have guide, The Coastal Café Guide brims with around 150 fantastic and often sea-view places to eat along the coastlines of England, Scotland, and Wales, with a focus on small, independent, and often family-run places. With a foreword from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the guide also highlights the vital work of many marine- and coast-relevant charities.

Author, Kerry O’Neill, said, “This book celebrates the local people and independent eating places that make Britain’s coastlines unique. The tempting collection includes cafés, restaurants, beach bars, seafood cabins, horseboxes, trucks, and more. Expect everything from lobster shacks on Scottish sea lochs to high-end Cornish cafés and coast-hugging Welsh haunts. There’s even a pedalling coffee and cake pedlar.”

This is the second foodie travel guide title from Printslinger, the independent publisher behind 2023’s online best-selling travel guide and a ‘Most Gifted’ guide on Amazon: The Extra Mile – Delicious Alternatives to Motorway Services.

Alastair Sawday, owner of Printslinger and editor of The Coastal Café Guide, is a committed local food and environmental campaigner. Alastair said, “I’m excited that our new book promotes locally grown, healthy food, and emphasizes the importance of Britain’s local food networks.

“In addition to supporting the often smaller, seasonal places around the coast, the book connects readers to the charities doing great work to keep our coasts clean, our seas swimmable, and our beach environments safe. The book brings the RNLI’s beach safety messages to the fore, and we’ll also donate 1% of the book’s sales to Surfers Against Sewage, to support the important work they do campaigning against sewage pollution.”

Tabi McCormick, in Partnerships at Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), said, “This book is a beautiful celebration of the small businesses and charities that keep our coastal communities vibrant. We’re incredibly grateful that the proceeds will support SAS’s vital work in protecting our rivers and ocean.”

The book features the following charities and coast-focused organisations:

·       - City to Sea

·      -  Finisterre Foundation CIC

·      - John Muir Trust

·       - Marine Conservation Society

·       - Marine Stewardship Council

·       - National Trust for Scotland

·       - Open Seas

·       - Outdoor Swimming Society

·       - Ramblers

·      - RNLI

·       - Slow Fish from Slow Food

·       - South West Coast Path Association

·       - Surfers Against Sewage

·      - The Wave Project

Ramon Van de Velde, CEO at The Wave Project said: "The Wave Projects helps improve the wellbeing of nearly 2,500 children and young people per year across the UK, with surf therapy and the healing powers of the ocean. We're delighted to feature in The Coastal Café Guide, which shines a light on coastal communities and supports our mission to make our life-changing programmes accessible to ever more children."

Christmas Deliveries 2024

Our cut off date for Christmas orders this year is Monday 16th December for UK and Monday 1st December for International. We are only posting via Royal Mail now and orders over £40 will be sent via 48 hour tracked delivery. We will continue to pack & post orders received after the above stated dates but please be aware that they may not arrive in time for Christmas.
We would also reiterate that this is a busy time of year for Royal Mail and items can and do get lost on occasions. Please order as early as possible to avoid disappointment and bear in mind that there is next to nothing we can do once your order is in the postal system.

EU Orders under GPSR

Unfortunately with effect from Monday 9th December 2024 we will no longer be able to ship any orders to destinations within the EU. This includes Northern Ireland. This is due to the requirements and costs associated with the new General Product Safety Regulations 2024. Unfortunately it is simply not feasible for us as a small business stocking products made predominantly by small and micro independent businesses to comply with these requirements at this time. We recommend ordering to a UK based address instead such as a friend or family member so that they can send on for you as these Regulations only relate to businesses.

Dispatch time

We aim to pack and dispatch orders all within three working days. This time should be added to the typical delivery time stated for your chosen method of carriage. Please remember that we are not Amazon Prime and it is not possible to arrange next day delivery. If you are absolutely desperate for an item please contact us by email BEFORE placing your order to discuss options.

*The terms below relate to shipping within the UK mainland*

Royal Mail

Choose from second class shipping at a flat rate of £3.25 per order or first class shipping at flat rate of £4.50 per order. These services will not be tracked.

Orders over £40 (excluding print on demand clothing products fulfilled by our partner company Teemill) will automatically attract free shipping and will generally be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 or where that service is not available by Royal Mail Signed For

Unfortunately we are unable to offer free shipping on overs over £40 including print on demand clothing fulfilled by our print partner Teemill. Teemill clothing orders are printed to order and will be posted to you direct by Teemill. Any other items ordered will be posted by us from Fowey.

Evri

We no longer offer shipping with Evri as an option as sadly they are just too unreliable for a small business like this.

Local delivery

We are not currently offering local delivery as an option. Please select collect from the shop if you live locally and want to avoid postage.

Collection from the shop

Available during opening hours, collection within three working days of order. You will be sent an email when your order is ready to collect.

Lost items

We will not be able to consider refunds until at least 14 working days have passed from the date of postage. During periods of industrial action this will be extended to at least 21 days and we would ask you to please be patient in those circumstances. If your order has not arrived after 14 days please contact us by email.

If there are any extenuating circumstances which might delay your order further, you will be notified by email to advise of the delay and to discuss options.

Returns & refunds

International Shipping

Post Brexit International Shipping has become exceptionally onerous for small businesses, particularly ones like mine which mainly ship domestically. Shipping charges will often vary considerably depending exactly what items are purchased. Your order will be sent via the postage service which most closely matches the amount you have paid for postage. If there is a significant discrepancy we will refund any overpayment and reserve the right to contact you to discuss options in the event of underpayment.

As a small business with minimal margins on our gift products we are unable to absorb shipping costs over and over the amount paid and hope that you will understand this. Unfortunately we are unable to offer a free shipping service internationally.

We will complete the relevant customs forms but will not be responsible for any tax which may be levied for collection within the destination country as this is simply too big and complicated an undertaking for us to deal with when we handle so few international orders. Please make yourself aware of any shipping restrictions pertaining to the destination country. We recommend using this guide before ordering to check that we are able to ship the item you intend to order.
