The view over Readymoney Cove Fowey

Readymoney Cove is on the south western side of Fowey, approximately 10 minutes walk along a broadly flat road called The Esplanade which runs from the centre of town. This route is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

Our WhatThreeWords location is ///destiny.going/mixes

If you are driving, the closest car park is Readymoney Car Park (60 spaces including blue badge spaces). This carpark is free from 1st November to Easter Sunday (please check the signage before parking). You can also park for free along the Esplanade if there is space. The town's Main Car Park on Hanson Drive (269 spaces) is another good option if you want to visit the beach and the town but this does involve a steep hill.
If you are walking, cycling or catching the bus into Fowey you could take the public footpath next to the pretty painted bus stop at the junction of Lankelly Lane and Polvillion Road. This footpath is called St Catherine's Parade and is a bumpy but passable by wheelchair or pushchair path right down to the beach. Cycling along the Parade is not permitted. The final section of road from the end of St Catherine's Parade to the beach is flat but steep with limited passing places. You can also take the number 25 bus most of the way to the beach, ask the driver for the Tower Park stop and then continue down the hill and turn right at the end to find the beach.

Please avoid driving down to the Cove itself if possible, it is a narrow road with double yellow lines and limited space for turning, is often very busy with children and dogs and there is nowhere to park other than for the private properties with their own spaces.

If you are a Blue Badge user permitted to park on double yellow lines please be mindful not to block or restrict access to the driveway of Readymoney Cottage, the parking spaces for Beach Cottage and Seaweed Cottage and the gated parking space of Farthings Cottage (on the end of the row). Please bear in mind that turning space is required for private vehicles and delivery vehicles. Parking is not permitted on the slipway as access is required at all times for emergency vehicles or on the paved area outside the shop which is privately owned.

The shop itself is accessible by wheelchair. In colder weather we may have one or both doors closed to keep the warmth in but please knock and we will open them for you. There is a disabled toilet next to to the shop but it is of dated construction and may not have sufficient turning space for all modern wheelchairs. The cubicle is however fitted with grab rails and has a low level hand basin and dryer.

The paved area outside the shop is uneven due to its very nature and often sandy and wet. We would advise that caution is taken with wheelchairs or mobility scooters on this area. Unfortunately we no longer have a beach wheelchair available on site.
