Platinum Jubilee Events at Readymoney
Victoria ClarkOver recent months I have been working with a team from across Fowey to help plan a weekend of brilliant community events to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Events are being focussed in different areas of Fowey on different days and on Saturday 4th June, the focus is on Readymoney for the Big Jubilee Sandcastle Competition and Big Jubilee Swim and Lunch. The Big Jubilee Sandcastle Competition
Registration open: 9am
Build time: 10am to 11am
Judging: 11am
Build time: 10am to 11am
Judging: 11am
This event will be followed by The Big Swim & Lunch, please see separate event listing for more details, all welcome.
Rules:
- Either sandcastles or sand structures - are acceptable
- No charge to participate but we will be collecting for charity (TBC) if you would like to make a cash donation
- Entrants must collect a token on registration and present it to the judges when requested
- All builds must start with a clear patch of sand at 10am
- Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places
- No restriction on numbers per build team or ratio of adults to children but these factors will be taken into consideration whilst judging
- We would encourage the use of natural adornments found locally on the beach. However if you bring anything else, please ensure that you remove it from the beach when you leave
- The judges' decisions are final
- Please be kind, this is a morning of fun family entertainment, please do not lose sight of that!

The Big Jubilee Swim & Lunch
The perfect opportunity to bring our community together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Weekend.
If you would like to join in with a swim (or indeed just a quick dip) beforehand, we will be heading into the water from 11.30 with a view to eating from 12 noon.
Big Lunch HQ will be the grassed area on top of the Readymoney limekilns. We are hoping to have a gazebo and trestle table, lots of bunting and hopefully some fun games on the beach to bring everyone together. More information to follow over coming weeks...
In order to keep things safe and simple we would encourage everyone to bring their own food, drinks, cups, cutlery, plates and picnic blankets - this also requires little advance preparation for the organising team and minimises waste! If you do prepare food to share, please where possible make food in individual portions, like cupcakes and sausage rolls or easily sliceable cakes or quiche and bring an ingredients list with you.
Please take all your waste home with you at the end of the day to be recycled as appropriate
Please try to avoid driving down to the Cove where possible. There is no parking and turning around can be difficult when there are lots of people around including children and dogs.
Dogs are welcome but please do keep them away from the food!
