What's happening at Readymoney this winter...

Victoria Clark

There's quite a lot going on at Readymoney at the moment so I thought it was worth a quick roundup of our latest news. Don't forget that the beach shop is open every day other than Christmas Day so do come along and see us!

A Shiny New Webcam

We've had a webcam installed on the outside of the shop building and this week our broadband has been upgraded to fibre so we now have a great quality HD stream which doesn't upset our shop till, hurrah. The webcam has already become very popular, particular with our swimmers who are waving to each other and using it to check the tides and weather conditions (the box in the top right corner is there to mask our lovely neighbours' garden by the way). Yes, the view would be much better if the camera was installed on the shelter but there's a Grade II listed limekiln between the shop and the shelter which creates an issue there. If we can move relocate it later down the line we will do our best.

Delicious Winter Specials

We've got a delicious range of deluxe hot chocolates on special for this winter, all inspired by our favourite ice-cream flavours. Choose from Shipwreck, Praline, Orange Chocolate, Mint Choc Chip or Marshmallow Mudslide. Yum. We're also now stocking an amazing hot spiced apple drink, I'm reliably informed that it's very similar to the one which one of the big coffee brands used to sell but no longer do so do give it a try if you're looking for an alternative hot drink. My boys adore it, it's like a winter version of hot squash!

We've also brought back delicious organic soup to our menu. Flavours will vary but will always be vegan. Served in one of our reusable cups with two tasty savoury cheese biscuits included in the price (vegan & gf alternative available) it's the perfect warmer-upper if you're not in the mood for the more traditional version of Cornish central heating (ie a pasty...).

Christmas Gifts Galore

We've got all sorts of lovely new things available on the website this year for Christmas gifting. New for this winter are snuggly Readymoney beanies, gorgeous hand poured festive tapers or winter tree candles, beautiful winter swimming inspired art cards and some lovely handmade Christmas decorations for your tree so do head over to the online shop and see what takes your fancy. Our last posting date for Christmas will be Wednesday 15th December, not long to go! If you're stuck for gift inspiration and need some help or want to put together a bespoke gift box for a friend, family member or colleague then drop me a line and I'll see what I can do to help.

Santa by the Sea

Our second festive grotto is taking place this weekend and we can't wait! The elves have been busy packing gift bags and there are lots of excited local children keen to see Father Christmas at their favourite beach location. Click here to read about last year's grotto, we're keeping everything crossed that it won't be as windy!

 New Year Charity Swim

We are keeping everything crossed that you-know-what doesn't scupper the plans for the now traditional New Year's Day swim. The swim takes place at midday on Saturday 1st January 2022 and you can register in advance or on the day. This year's swim is raising funds for the Whitehouse Pool Renovation and for Fowey RNLI. Full details (together with any updates) will be posted on the event page on Facebook (you don't need to have a Facebook profile to open it). Actual swimming isn't compulsory, a quick dip in and it to show willing is plenty!

A New Face!

Last but by no means last I am so happy to have welcomed our new shop manager Jo Arvor to the team last month. I first met Jo several years ago when she was working for Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Jo and her partner Jon are firm Readymoney fans and visit regularly so Jo really is living the dream! Jo told me that she is so happy to be working in her favourite shop at her favourite place, that it's a privilege to get to know our wonderful regular customers and she is in awe of all the swimmers! In only a few weeks Jo has already been a huge help to me in taking over the operational side of running the physical shop, yippee! You'll still see me at the shop regularly but I will be spending more time in my office in the garden at home working on growing the business to bring you more wonderful things from this special location. Watch this space!
